Providing fast and accurate information about virus particles is a vital step for many aspects of virology research and biotechnology, such as basic research on emerging viral diseases and clinical applications of viral vectors. Besides, the ongoing theme of the COVID-19 pandemic has greatly promoted the research of virus detection and identification. To date, there is a wide spectrum of methods used for the determination of viruses. According to the objects they detect, these methods can be grouped broadly into four categories, including determining levels of viral infectivity, measuring the presence of viral proteins, detecting the presence of viral nucleic acid, and counting physical viral particles. Creative Proteomics is a forward-looking research institute as well as a leading custom service provider in virology research. We focus on virus detection and quantification, providing a series of improved or proven methods to meet customers' project needs. Based on a professionally trained team and advanced techniques, the process of virus measurement can be accelerated from days to hours, and even minutes. We are committed to offering efficient and convenient service for our worldwide customers in many aspects of virology research and biotechnology.
Viral infectivity is the most important property of viruses. To measure viral infectivity, we offer a range of common and useful assays, including plaque assay and 50% cell culture infectious dose (TCID50) endpoint dilution assay, but not limited to them. The plaque assay is an invaluable tool in the quantification of infectious virus area, having the advantage of easily reproducible, consistent for analysis. In addition to plaque assay, the TCID50 assay is another common method for infectivity detection. Based on providing information of cytopathic effect (CPE), the method can serve as a complement to the plaque assay. With automated instruments and an excellent team of experts, we are dedicated to providing one-stop solutions with the most suitable strategies to meet customers' specific project needs.
After virus infects the host cell, it replicates and produces large amounts of viral nucleic acid (RNA or DNA). Therefore, investigation of viral RNA or DNA is one of the major detection and diagnostic methods, especially suitable for an acute viral infection. Here, we offer a series of proven molecular detection methods for virus detection, including microarray-based analysis, real-time PCR (RT-PCR), and metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS).
Serologic testing detects antibodies against a virus, measuring the amount of antibodies produced following infection. These tests not only serve as complements of nucleic acid-based methods in virus detection areas, but also as potential surveillance tools in viral diseases. To meet the growing demand for virus detection, we have established rapid, sensitive and specific platforms based on state-of-the-art facilities and improved analytical methods. Services are customized to customers' specific needs, enabling flexibility from day-to-day analysis to high throughput bulk analysis.
To understand the mechanism of virus infection for potential drug target discovery and structure-based drug design, it is essential to determine the three-dimensional (3D) structure of proteins. We offer three major techniques commonly used for macromolecular structure determination, including cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), X-ray crystallography, and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Cryo-EM has been developed as a powerful high-resolution technique in structural biology research and has been widely used to investigate virus morphology, involving Ebola, HIV, Zika, and coronaviruses. While X-ray crystallography and NMR have also been used to determine the structure of a protein or complexes at atomic or near-atomic resolution and they can also resolve the structure of isolated proteins or complexes in isolated states.
Different techniques afford different perspectives. To support calculation of virus particles, we offer a broad range of methods, ranging from the classical and visualized method to the measurement method based on rapid, reliable, and cost-effective instruments. A broad spectrum of virus species can be measured.
